Cultural Services

In Aotearoa New Zealand, we often incorporate indigenous Māori culture — including customs and values, known as tikanga into our events.

Tikanga is set by mana whenua, the local people with territorial rights. That means the local iwi, Te Āti Awa, set the tikanga for Tākina Wellington Convention & Exhibition Centre, and works with partners and clients to observe it.

Tākina Events and Te Āti Awa have created a guide to cultural services available at Tākina, including a whakatau or formal welcome. Every event is unique and requires a unique form of tikanga, which Kura and Alishia from Te Āti Awa can work with you to determine.
