When is Tākina opening?

Tākina Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre opened June 2023. If you're interested in booking an event at Tākina, please email [email protected]

What is the location?

Tākina is located at 50 Cable Street, Te Aro, Wellington 6011.

Can I bring an external caterer for my event?

Tākina will offer world-class catering onsite so external caterers will not be permitted. Please contact the team at Tākina Events team on [email protected] to discuss your event catering requirements.

Where can I park?

Tākina is located directly across both Readings on Wakefield and Barnett Street car park. Parking is available all-day Monday-Sunday at Readings on Wakefield and Monday-Saturday at Barnett Street.

Is Tākina located close to attractions and shops?

Tākina is located in the central city’s cultural precinct with a range of restaurants, bars, and retail outlets within walking distance.

What are the public transport options?

Wellington Combined Taxis have a taxi stand on Cable Street in front of Te Papa – right across the main entrance of Tākina. Most Wellington buses (including those from the airport and railway station) stop along Courtenay Place which is only a few minutes' walk from Tākina.

Are there hotels nearby?

Within a 5 minute walk from Tākina there are 7 hotels, ranging from 3 to 5 star, offering a total of 680 rooms. The closest hotel is the QT Wellington. Within a 5-20 minute walk from the convention centre there are an additional 28 hotels.

Can I bring an assistance dog to the venue?

Certified assistance dogs are allowed in the venue when assisting a person with a disability. Please ensure the dog wears the appropriate coat and has a valid ID card.

Where can I buy my exhibition tickets?

Exhibition tickets for  Doctor Who Worlds of Wonder can be purchased here. Tickets are also available from the ticketing booth within the Tākina foyer.
