Accessibility

Tākina Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre has been designed and built to be accessible for everyone.

Wheelchair access

Tākina has access ramps at both main entrances.

Internally, we provide lifts to all areas, accessible toilets on all floors, and a convenient parents' room on Level 1.

All our meeting spaces are designed for easy access with ample circulation space around entranceways.

Vision impairment

Registered assistance dogs are welcome in all our spaces.

Assisted hearing

Tākina Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre has hearing assistance augmentation throughout the venue.

Listeners can easily select channel and volume level once their personal device is connected to the Wifi network.

The WaveCAST App is used to listen to streaming live audio from Williams AV audio products. Audio is sent over a Wi-Fi connection directly to your personal device, letting you easily listen in.

Cognitive Impairments

Tākina features clear signage for locating toilets, the café, and different floor levels.

Cloak rooms

Event organisers can choose from various spaces to manage and store guests' belongings.

Please note that there may be restrictions on the types of luggage visitors can take into exhibitions at Tākina and Te Papa.

Te Papa provides lockers at a small cost for coats, bags, and other small items. You'll find these lockers on your right as soon as you enter the main entrance.

Mobility parking

Five accessible car parks are located near the ground-floor entrance of the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, with two uncovered and three covered.

Accessible drop-off and pick-up locations for both Te Papa and Tākina are provided at the taxi zone outside Te Papa on Cable Street, and at the layby on Wakefield Street adjacent to Tākina.
