Planning a school visit to an exhibition at Takina
Dates and times:
The exhibition is open 7 days per week until 28 October 2024.
Open times: 10am – 5pm (last entry 4pm).

Don't miss an extraordinary journey through time and space as the TARDIS touches down in Wellington for the Doctor Who Worlds of Wonder: Where Science Meets Fiction exhibition, which explores the science behind the global hit BBC television series.
Fans will come face to face with iconic characters and explore on-screen worlds spanning the show's rich history, as well as diving into scientific concepts like time travel - unravelling the mystery of why the TARDIS is bigger on the inside. But that's not all! The Monster Vault awaits, where visitors can encounter many of the Doctor's alien adversaries and discover their intriguing connections to real-world science. For 60 years, Doctor Who has captivated audiences in over 50 countries, amassing a global fan base.

Book a school visit:
- $40 per five students and one supervising adult.
- Additional students are $8 each.
- One supervising adult at no charge per five students, additional adults will be charged the standard adult ticket price.

Student supervision ratios:
We require you to bring the following number of adults to supervise your students.
- ECE: One adult for every three students (1:3)
- Years 1-8: One adult for every six students (1:6)
- Years 9-13: One adult for every ten students (1:10)
Please ensure students are supervised as they explore the exhibition, you are responsible for your students’ safety
Food and drinks:
The exhibition gallery does not allow food and drinks, excluding bottled water.
Lunch areas:
Schools are welcome to bring their lunches to Takina and eat in the following spaces:
- Tākina Tangaroa (ground floor) Foyer provided access ways are kept clear. There is a great little corner lounge facing Cable Street.
Courtyard – an outdoor space on the ground floor - If schools choose to purchase lunches from Zephyr Café (link) they are welcome to use the café space to eat.
Getting here and parking:
Tākina Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre is located at 50 Cable Street, Te Aro, Wellington 6011 (link to map).
There is a bus bay on Wakefield Street (and a Tākina entry) for those arriving at Tākina by bus.
Parking is available in the streets around Tākina, including a Carepark carpark on Wakefield Street, and parking in Te Papa on Cable Street.
